Discount Codes

If you want to save money when you travel, discount/referral codes are a good way to get money off the cost of something, when you sign up or book using a specific code. In order to encourage people to travel by reducing costs, I thought I would post a couple of referral codes that I have. I don’t have access to that many codes but will update this page when I find more.

Skillshare – get 2 months of Premium for FREE

Obviously, this will not help to keep travel costs down but it is a useful code nevertheless. Skillshare has a whole range of classes that are useful to budding travellers. From courses on travel photography to courses teaching you how to edit videos of your travels, from courses on budgeting for a trip to courses on keeping a travel sketchbook. There are even courses on travel writing and blogging which will be useful for me. I am using it to learn Spanish and it is a very useful site to gain skills, especially when it is free for 2 months. Just don’t forget to cancel before the 2 months are up (unless you want to carry on learning new skills!).

Airbnb – get £34 off your first trip

If you aren’t on Airbnb yet use the code to make an account and you’ll get £34 off your first trip. Airbnb was the main provider we booked our accommodation through when travelling Europe. We stayed in over 12 Airbnb’s during our 9-week adventure and it’s such a good way to travel. Filtering our searches, we were able to find the perfect place in every city we visited that had everything we wanted and was affordable. Unlike hostels, where you have to share facilities, we were able to have our own space everywhere we went and save by cooking meals too. If you are smart with the way you search you can always find a good place for a good price. Using this code will also give me credit

HotelTonight – £20 off your first booking

If Airbnb’s are not your thing, or if you are booking last minute and there are no cheap places available, try HotelTonight. HotelTonight lists hotel rooms at very discounted prices for last-minute trips, encouraging spontaneous getaways at affordable prices. When you sign up with the code below you get £20 off your first booking, so you can start your last minute adventure as soon as possible. You don’t have to book a room for ‘tonight’ as the name would suggest but it seems like a good option for flexible, last-minute travellers. When we were travelling I wish we had heard of HotelTonight, as there were times when we were booking on the go and the most affordable places had been booked up and this app would have helped us out.

Uber – discount on your first trip

Similarly to Airbnb, if you sign up for Uber using the code below you can get a discount on the first trip you take. The discount varies depending on your location and the credit I’ll get back will only be a maximum of three-pound. I would regardless still recommend Uber highly, especially for travelling. Sometimes when you don’t know how to get to the nearest bus stop or train station, or public transport isn’t even an option Uber is a lifesaver. You can request an Uber, track it and get picked up from your location in a matter of minutes. The best part is you don’t need to know local taxi numbers and don’t need the local currency as it charges you via the app. When we were in the middle of nowhere or when it was too early/late for buses Uber saved the day at got us to where we wanted to be.

As this is my personal blog and I am the sole contributor, it is worth noting that I am not compiling this list for commercial gain but am simply collating codes so friends, family and my blog readers can travel for cheaper. Obviously, I do partially benefit because if you use a code I will get some sort of credit with the specific company if you use the code and get money off. Basically, it’s a win-win and I just thought it would be helpful.
